This ultra high apartment is located in a 19th century building, belongs to a large family that divides their time between London and Singapore, and has impressively high and beautiful French windows.

Due to its multiplicity of the family that owns the apartment, there was a need for a multifunctional space – comfortable enough even when all the members of the family are in London. The plan of the apartment before the repair was a bit strange and included a very high living room and a kitchen with the proportions of a corridor. That’s why the designers from VW+BS started the reconstruction by remaking the space. They choose to make the living room larger and the kitchen was moved to the inner part of the apartment to leave enough space for the high proportion french wondows in the living room.

The living room is 420 cm height, so there is sufficient height above the new kitchen to construct a gallery with small bedroom and a workplace. In order not to lose the light in the apartment, the gallery is left wall free, so practically a person can see through the windows of the living room from the bedroom at the end of the apartment. At the same time the gallery/mezzanine can be completely closed by polycarbonate sliding lanes, forming another bedroom on this level when needed.

The biggest advantage of this apartment in an old Victorian building are the high ceilings and the huge windows that open onto a long balcony with stunning railing that looks like lacework. The designers used modern materials only and very clean and minimal furniture (far from the Victorian aestetics), the original character of the building is not forgotten because they were able to regain its original spacious and high living area.
